Maya narrowed her eyes against the rainbow colored blood that now dripped from her blade, almost swamped the floor and spattered her clothes. The freeing of Paul had been consuming of Maya's energy. The bloody tentacles had kept coming back! Maya snarled to herself as she thought of the ordeal she had just come through. She had done this before but as of yet, no human had survived.
The tentacles, wanting to succeed in taking over a human life form, had not given up easily. They had kept growing, writhing and fighting against Maya. However, the Proxitol had done its work and weakened the tentacles enough that Maya could truly say that they would not come back. Maya swayed on her feet, tiredness pulling at her limbs. She shook it off, for there was only one question on her mind now:

Is Paul still alive?

The blade slipped from Maya's fingers as she fell to her knees to study the prone form that was Paul, lying in a pool of alien blood. She quickly checked for a pulse and breathed a sigh of relief as she found one. Weak but steady. He'll make it after all. I'll make sure of it or die trying. Lysanna cannot win!
Maya quickly scooped up Paul in her genetically strengthened arms and settled him in another room, where he could be kept under observation with a robotic monitor. If it didn't beep an alarm, it meant that Paul was surviving. Maya felt a tightening in her chest as she thought of the monitor alerting her that Paul had died. No! Maya felt differently about this human.
Paul was unique, as far as she could tell. He had the fight in him to survive the transmission of the parasite, the hacking of the parasitic tentacles and he would survive this. Maya had a feeling about it and her feelings were rarely wrong. It was what had kept her alive all of these years, fighting against the parasite and its creator, Lysanna. Maya's eyes hardened and she raised her head challengingly to the empty room.
"You will not win, Lysanna! Do you hear me? You WILL NOT win! Paul is safe now and there is no way that I will let him die. Your precious parasite isn't going to get anywhere on this planet, not with me still alive."
Maya had spent her last reserves of energy in this tirade and it echoed coldly in the room. She stumbled to the empty bed, where she could get some much needed rest, for the moment. A sinister laugh echoed in her head and it didn't die away, no matter how much Maya wished it would.
This is what happened after Maya began hacking. Word submission is 448 words. Didn't realize it was so long but eh, I figured it was good enough to submit.
